Entertainment has been receiving a lot of importance in the recent past. From being declared an industry to highlighting the role of cinema and other audio-visual media in evolving the thinking of the public, Governments have been working towards making this sector perform and contribute positively.
KFC, in recent times, has significantly improved its performance and iS trying to promote sectors which have been historically strong in Kerala. With Tourism and Construction industry which have traditionally been strong points of Kerala, already saturating, there is need to identify and promote sectors which are inherently strong in Kerala, but unable to grow due to lack of finances.
Malayalam Cinema, known for its realistic portrayal of relevant subject in films with less commercial content, has pioneered various technical, thematic and production techniques among films in India. With well over 100 films being produced every year, it is the fifth largest film industry in the country. Malayalam films dominate the National Awards in Cinema in most of the years.
With no institutional financiers, worth it, available to the producers of these films, they are at the mercy of private financiers, who charge exorbitant rates.
KFC, the premier development financier in the State, has pioneered in this field too and has brought out two schemes for making this sector vibrant. This will lead to promoting creative talent in the state and overall development of entertainment industry in particular and Kerala in general.
Scheme for Financial Assistance for Producing Feature Films and T.V. Serials
Reputed, Experienced Producers with established teams can avail short term loans of up to Rs 200 lakhs, to start with, on very easy terms and rates, to finance 50% of the requirements associated with production of Feature Films, Documentaries and T. V. Serials, once necessary approvals are obtained. Right over negatives, royalties like TV rights, music rights, CD rights, overseas rights, remake rights, etc. will form security for the loan, in addition to 100% collateral coverage.
Scheme for Modernisation, Upgradation and Expansion of Existing Cinema Theatres and for Establishment of New Multiplexes
From a concept of a cinema house, theatres have grown to become places of recreation for the whole family and social groups. To cater to this requirement, conventional cinema house need to renovate judiciously and new ones need to be designed thus. The new scheme offers loans up to Rs 20 crores, again on easy terms and attractive rates, with provision for routing part of daily collections at these centres to the loan account.
